German music blog Dressed Like Machines has released episode 4 of its The Machine Cast podcast series featuring a mix by its first international guest, South Africa’s DJ HIVIP (better known as Spoek Mathambo). HIVIP brings us over 30 minutes of tropical bass, dubstep, & juke from the likes of Zombie Disco Squad, GTO (Raziek & Cerebral Vortex), Spank Rock, Sam Tiba and others who are sure not to disappoint.
CDRadio episode 5. Recorded 2011.02.23. Over this past weekend I was listening to a lot of sounds & beat tapes from producers/artists out of Russia, so originally this was gonna be an episode featuring nothing but sounds from artist from Russia, but overtime I kinda scratched that idea. Though, I still left a number of the tracks in so listen out.
Stones Throw head hancho PB Wolf put together a 50min mix of current and upcoming 2011 releases from ST veterans and new signees. Since I didn’t read the tracklist before listening (I never do– it sometimes spoils the surprise of it all) I was definitely caught off guard when I first listened to the mix. There’s a huge surprise right off the bat.
First episode of the new podcast series CDRadio, recorded 2010.12.08. Episode 01 turned out really chill; alot of mellow electronica & laidback hip-hop. Also a little shorter than I expected. I have no clue what each episode will sound like, but they’ll each be compilations of new music I’m currently digging and older stuff that isn’t heard very often or stuff not many people may know about. Enjoy!
Essential listening for bass heads! Hat+Hoodie out of Germany just launched their new podcast series Zef Jam! A new episode of Zef Jam will be released every 2 weeks and will feature some of the latest tunes in global bass as well as exclusive guest mix by some of the scenes best DJs.
First episode’s guestmix comes from El Timbe & Cherman. Both members of Folcore collective and promoters of Club Du Monde in Barcelona. As a bonus, Matenlo from Santiago de Chile recorded a fresh minimix for your pleasure.
This is a 50-minute mixtape by Dimlite, one of electronic music’s most underrated talents. Another fan, Prefuse 73, introduced us to Dimlite a while back. His album ‘Prismic Tops‘ came out this year on Now-Again, and a new 10-inch is coming up early next year.
(Track list for Lit Paper Hats Forever TBA)
I’m only half way into this mix right now, but damn was I pleasantly surprised to see Paul White‘s name on it. There’s a Guilty Simpson & J Dilla/Talib remix which are both really dope. I’ll post a tracklist as soon as Stones Throw has one available.
Yesterday, I was going to post a remix of this soca tune Wa-La-La-Leng by Poirier, but I couldn’t find it online and since I try not to upload music that isn’t free I said nevermind. Instead, there’s a different remix of the song on the latest XLR8R podcast which is by Poirier! Since Ninja Tune is celebrating their 20th anniversary, this is a mix of dub, reggae, dancehall, soca, baile funk carioca and electronic cuts strictly from Ninja Tune & Big Dada. BRUK OUUUUUTT!!
