Go to the pay phone, cell phone, the jail phone– call some-fucking-body and get the fucking doll, aiight?!
Hey! I’m blogging for the DC Chiefs and Carolina Shiners sections of Frank now! I was asked earlier this year, around the time I started Camp Donuts, if I’d like to blog for them, but at the time I had never really blogged before so I turned it down. Turns out it’s not as difficult as I initially thought (haha). Since I noticed those sections weren’t updated as often as they could be, I asked if I could still blog for them and they were cool with it. I’ve been reading Frank ever since I picked up their EZ Lovers chapter back in ’06 and it’s been my favorite book since, so it’s really cool to now be contributing to the site.
Anywaysssss…. Nothing at all’s different here. I’m not gonna post less or anything like that; just thought it’d be cool to share.
P.S.: If you’re a fan of the Wu-Tang Clan and you’re in the States, you can win tickets to see them while they’re still touring through next month by entering Frank’s contest.
Yesterday I listened to Odd Future (Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All) for the first time. OFWGKTA is an emerging hip-hop crew of kids out of L.A. consisting of Tyler, the Creator (sic), Earl Sweatshirt, Domo Genesis, Taco Bennett, Syd tha Kyd, Jasper Loc, Hodgy Beats, Left Brain, The Super 3, and Mike G.
Tyler, the Creator – French
Earl Sweatshirt – EARL
I don’t check Pitchfork or read the Fader as often as you’d expect me to, but apparently OFWGKTA has been getting plenty of coverage from them. A few influential hip-hop blogs on the other hand… not so much. Odd Future tried slinging some sounds to their way; they weren’t feeling them; OF gets no love.
When Mos Def, Bun B, and even the Wu’s GZA give approval, there’s no way you can ignore these dudes. Their music isn’t as common as a lot of stuff coming out now, but that’s exactly what is so great about them. Like anything else different in music, people never understand at first, give it time, more people take notice, and the bandwagon hopping/dickriding begins.
Tyler, the Creater is the head of the group and handles most of their sick production. I still haven’t listened to Bastard mixtape but I’m really digging what I’ve heard so far. And after hearing the opening Fuck You to Nah Right & 2dopeboyz during the intro, I don’t think you’ll gonna see much of their stuff posted there. Hopefully Tyler and the rest of OFWGKTA will take Bun Beater’s advice and continue doing what they’re doing, because I believe 100% if they do, they could be the Gravediggaz or even Wu-Tang Clan of a new generation (that’s pretty serious coming from a real fan of the Wu). I’m interested in seeing how things go for them.
All members of the Wu along with Boy Jones, the son of ODB, will be together performing the entire Enter the 36 Chambers at this year’s Rock The Bells Festival!
XXL presents Raekwon’s Cocainism vol.2 mixtape. There’s no way I’m going to compare this to OB4CL/2, but the Chef could have easily released such a quality mixtape as this one as an LP. Cocainism vol.2 features production work by The Alchemist and guest appearances by Noreaga, Mobb Deep & more. Lookout for Rae’s Shoalin vs Wu-Tang out in Sept.!

I seriously think he should pitch this for his own educational wildlife documentary series for children. Just imagine how much you’d know about animals if you grew up watching Raekwon the Chef’s animal show every saturday after your morning cartoons!
