Dazed Digital just posted an interesting interview they did w/ Atari Teenage Riot.

Some of our fans would kill me for saying this, but I find that fashion is way more exciting than the music scene. Designers take risks, most musicians can’t…

Spoek Mathambo recently put together a mix for V Magazine’s new VMix series and is now available for download. Spoek is currently on tour with his backing band Mshini Wam, so make sure to check myspace.com/spoek to see if he’ll be making a stop in your city or one near by.

What’s in your hands? [Look] back at me! I have them; they’re my coconuts!

I can only imagine how uncomfortable some dudes get and how annoyed girlfriends become when they’re sitting together and this ad comes on haha. This parody is definitely the female equivalent to the original. Dear Rosie, you should move to the States so we can get hitched! No worries; I’m also a fan of Arsenal and we’re both the same age (lol).

Behind the scenes…

On Saturday night, after dinner with friends at Dos Gringos in Mt. Pleasant, while making my way to Irvine Contemporary for an exhibit opening featuring work by José Parlá, Swoon, Shepard Fairey, and Rostarr, I stopped by Palace 5ive a few minutes before closing and picked their last copy of the Cuba chapter of Frank. Like all chapters of Frank I’m finding it pretty hard to put down. Along with the article I mentioned about Gille’s Peterson’s “new Cuba sound“, there’s an interesting article by Helena Kubicka de Bragança called Los Frikis about the ongoing rock & punk anti-government movements in Cuba. There’s also a great interview Ulpiano Sergio Reyes aka Mellow Man Ace (brother of Cypress Hill’s Sen Dog) did on his father Cirillo Reyes asking him about his former life in Cuba and moving to the US in beginning of the ’70s. You can read most of the Chapter 42: Cuba online or download it as a PDF.

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Learn more about Gilles Peterson’s “new Cuba sound” and the Havana Cultura Project at havana-cultura.com. I want to get this compilation really soon! Danay Suarez is an amazing artist. Her 4-track live Havana Cultura Sessions EP will be available on vinyl through Brownswood Recordings later this month (11/22). Preview D’Nay’s Havana Cultura Sessions EP on the Brownswood Recordings soundcloud.

Frank: Chapter 30: Tuff Gong / Jamaica

Today I got a bday gift a week early in the mail from a friend back home.

While in MA, a friend of mine stopped by Boston Bodega (aka the dopest bodega on the east coast. see for yourself) and picked up a five panel. And just when I was starting to get bummed out knowing the only place in to find Frank was 2hrs away (!), she also grabbed me a copy of the limited 151 Pieces collab between Frank151 & Scion. Check out the interviews Frank did on Boston Bodega and Commonwealth.
