This tune has been absolutely nuts on Radio 1 lately. Gilles Peterson has played it a number of times on his show and Toddla T even says he’s been playing it in all of his recent sets. Glad to see it’s finally being released on May 9 and on Warp Records (of all labels?– brilliant).

Africa Hitech – Out In The Streets

Toddla T came stateside last weekend to chop it up with Dave Nada, Dillon Francis, and Munchi to get a better understanding of how moombahton got started and what it’s all about. While hosting Benji B‘s Radio 1 show last night, Toddla played a 1 hour moombahton special with interviews with Dave & Munchi and also got Diplo‘s opinion on the genre.

J Rocc co-hosted Benji B‘s Radio 1 show last week and previewed a good number of tunes from his upcoming Some Cold Rock Stuf album. He also played some unheard remixes and unreleased material from Madvillain and Madlib-produced Black Star! Turns out the Madvillain album may not be out for another 2 years…

J Rocc recently joined Benji B on his show on BBC Radio 1 for an exclusive preview of his upcoming album Some Cold Rock Stuf. He says it will be out in March. We shall see.

Download the first half of the show, Some Cold Stuf (preview), below or catch the full show on the BBC iPlayer.

Doorly cooked up this insane drum & bass/dubstep remix of the Animal Hospital theme song for Jaymo & Andy George‘s TV on the Radio feature while they hosted the Annie Mac Show last night on Radio 1. By the way, that’s Doorly on vocals!

New VBS.TV six part documentary series The Producers kicks off with it’s premiere episode starring possibly my favorite DJ/producer of 2010, Toddla T.

Buraka Som Sistema were featured on BBC Radio 1’s Essential Mix last saturday.

Their essential mix features the usual Buraka kuduro sound as well as afrobeat, electronica, and electro-pop, which is definitely worth giving a listen. It will only be available for streaming for a limited time, but you can download the mix here.
